Why the Hunger Games are like the Friend Zone

At the Girlfriend’s urging, I’ve been reading The Hunger Games trilogy. I’ve finished the first two books and have started the third, and the more I read, the more I’m convinced of something:

If Peeta were a real person and not a fictional character, he’d get Friend-Zoned like crazy.

He’d be that member of your circle of friends who all the girls think is just awesome (or if they’re Christians, really godly) and will end up with someone special … so long as that “someone special” isn’t them. Peeta will be the guy that his female friends always turn to when they want to complain about other men. He’ll never be the one who’s being complained about.

But then, I guess the Friend Zone is kind of like the Hunger Games.

Once you’re in, there’s a very good chance you’re never coming out.

Only the Friend Zone is just a much more boring way to die.
