The Burnside Writer’s Collective has a great series of articles on the 10 defining moments of American Christianity of the last 10 years. You can read it here.
Some of the top 10: the rise of the New Calvinism; the emergence of the emerging church; the Ted Haggard scandal and the successful resistance to Prop 8; and the passing of a pope.
Some of the articles were informative. Some weren’t surprising. And some of them make me think that we’re allowing the wrong message (“No gay marriage”) to be the thing that defines us as Christians, who instead should be recognized as people whose lives and words bear the good news of Jesus, the crucified, risen, and coming-soon Lord.
What about you? What will you remember about Christians from the last decade? Is it good? Bad?
